Welcome to Nexus Car Rental Aruba. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and the booking and rental of vehicles from Nexus Car Rental Aruba (“Nexus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By browsing this website, making a reservation, or renting a vehicle from us, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

These Terms work alongside the Vehicle Rental Agreement that each renter accepts and signs at the start of the rental. Where the signed Rental Agreement and these Terms address the same subject, the signed Rental Agreement governs the rental itself.

1. About Us

Nexus Car Rental Aruba is a boutique car rental company based at Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA), Aruba. We offer airport pick-up and complimentary island-wide delivery and collection to hotels and villas. Our team assists guests in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamento.

2. Bookings & Reservations

  • A reservation is confirmed once you receive a written confirmation from us.

  • You are responsible for providing accurate booking details, including driver name, valid contact information, and pick-up/return dates and times.

  • Vehicle models shown on the website are representative of the category booked. We reserve the right to provide a comparable vehicle of the same or higher category where necessary.

  • All reservations are subject to vehicle availability.

3. Pricing & Payment

  • Rental pricing is based on calendar days, not 24-hour periods. Each calendar day is charged at the daily rate regardless of pick-up or return time.

  • Rates include applicable taxes and standard fees unless stated otherwise. Optional extras (damage waivers, additional drivers, beach gear, child seats, etc.) are charged separately.

  • Payment is due in full before the rental period begins unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • A refundable security deposit is held as a pre-authorization on the renter’s credit or debit card before pick-up, and released after return inspection provided no deductions apply. The deposit is USD $300 for all vehicles, except the Hyundai Staria, for which the deposit is USD $500.

4. Driver Eligibility & Additional Drivers

  • The renter must hold a valid driver’s license recognized in Aruba.

  • The minimum rental age is 25 years, unless otherwise agreed.

  • Only authorized drivers listed on the Rental Agreement may operate the vehicle.

  • The first additional driver is free. Each additional driver beyond the first is USD $10 per rental. All additional drivers must meet the same license and age requirements.

5. Pick-up, Delivery & Return

  • Vehicles are delivered clean, in good condition, and with a full fuel tank, and must be returned the same way.

  • We offer complimentary delivery and collection island-wide to hotels and villas, by arrangement.

  • Fuel: Vehicles must be returned with a full tank. Failure to do so results in fuel charges at prevailing rates plus a refueling service fee.

  • Late return: The selected return time is the official return time. If the vehicle is not returned within 15 minutes of that time, a fee of USD $45 applies.

  • Early return: No refund is given for unused days, as the vehicle is reserved exclusively for you for the full rental period.

  • Cleaning: A USD $45 cleaning fee applies to vehicles returned excessively dirty. Please tap out sand from the mats before return; excessive beach sand inside the vehicle must be vacuumed.

6. Insurance & Damage Waivers

Understanding how coverage works in Aruba helps you choose the right protection for your trip. Here is a clear summary of what is included and what you can add.

What’s always included

Third-party liability insurance is included in every rental, as required by Aruban law. This covers damage you cause to other people’s vehicles or property. Importantly, it does not cover damage to the rental vehicle itself, and it does not cover personal injury or medical costs.

Why you may want a damage waiver

Without an optional waiver, the renter is financially responsible for the full cost of any loss or damage to the rental vehicle. A damage waiver is a contractual agreement that caps how much you would have to pay if something happens. A waiver is not an insurance policy — it is a limit on your liability, subject to its conditions (for example, a valid police report is required, and waivers become void in cases of negligent or illegal use).

Only one collision waiver (CDW or CDW Plus) may be selected per rental. CDW/CDW Plus and LDW cover different things and can be combined. All waivers must be selected and fully paid before the rental begins.

Good to know

  • Waivers do not cover interior damage, tires, rims, undercarriage, lost keys, off-road or water damage, or negligent/illegal use (including driving under the influence or by unlisted drivers).

  • A valid police report is required for all waiver claims. For theft/loss under LDW, the report must be filed within 2 hours of discovery.

  • You may also rely on a third-party travel insurance policy or a credit card with rental coverage — it is your responsibility to verify that coverage before declining a waiver.

7. Damage, Liability & Reporting

  • The renter is responsible for the vehicle’s security and condition for the full rental period.

  • Minor, non-collision damage found at return is charged according to our published damage price schedule (provided in the Rental Agreement). Where a collision waiver applies, qualifying charges are capped by the waiver limit.

  • You must report any damage or incident to us immediately when it occurs. Leaving or abandoning the vehicle with unreported damage, or leaving the scene of an incident, is treated as an attempt to conceal damage: we reserve the right to file a police report, a USD $500 penalty applies in addition to the full cost of damages, and any waiver is voided.

  • Off-road use is prohibited; evidence of off-road use carries a USD $100 penalty.

  • Traffic fines, parking tickets, and other violations during the rental are the renter’s responsibility.

8. Personal & Travel Insurance

Nexus is not responsible for personal injury, illness, medical expenses, or death of the renter, passengers, or third parties arising from use of the vehicle. We strongly recommend that all renters hold valid travel insurance covering medical care, personal accidents, and related travel risks for the duration of their visit.

9. Cancellations & Changes

You may cancel free of charge at any time. The only exception is the optional USD $15 booking commitment fee: if you have paid this fee, it is non-refundable, because it is used to hold the booking exclusively for you and take the vehicle off availability for your dates. Any other amounts paid are refunded on cancellation.

10. Use of the Website

  • The content on this website (text, images, branding) is owned by Nexus Car Rental Aruba and may not be copied or reused without permission.

  • We aim to keep pricing, availability, and vehicle information accurate, but errors may occur; a booking is only binding once confirmed in writing by us.

  • This website may link to third-party services (e.g. booking or payment providers). We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.

11. Privacy & Data

Your privacy matters to us. Any personal information we collect to process your booking, such as your name, contact details, driver’s license, and booking information is kept completely private and is never shared, sold, or disclosed to third parties. We follow strict data-collection and handling practices, and use your information solely to manage your reservation and rental with us. 12. Governing Law

These Terms and any rental are governed by the laws of Aruba, and disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Aruba. Where a renter leaves Aruba while owing amounts for damages, fees, or charges, Nexus reserves the right to pursue recovery and legal action in the renter’s country of residence or another competent jurisdiction, in addition to remedies available under Aruban law.
